Advanced Level Design class assignment
For this assignment, we were given a pre-made racing game controller and told to design a stylistically interesting racing game using it. I made a Tron-inspired light cycle racing game, using a lot of particles and visual effects to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I also did programming work with checkpoints, AI racers, and resetting a player when they fall off the track or get stuck. It was interesting to work on because I had never worked on a racing game before. I could have done a lot more to make the track specifically work well with the pre-made racing controller- my finished product favored aesthetics over gameplay feel. The track was far too narrow for the inconsistent and slidey movement of the controls.
